Trade in Your Leather Wallet for the Quirky Mighty Slim Wallet

Mighty wallet billfold

Leather wallets are a dime a dozen. Leather needs to be handled with care and gets torn and scratched pretty easily. There are, of course, leather wallets that are sturdy and long-lasting, but they also tend to be expensive. If you’re tired of carrying around a wallet made of leather – something that’s often heavy and uncomfortable -, why not try something that’s made of Tyvek paper instead?

The Dynomighty Men’s Slim Mighty Wallet Billfold is a great alternative to the regular leather and canvas wallets. It’s made of Tyvek paper and is surprisingly light and durable. In this Dynomighty Mighty Wallet review, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about it:

It’s definitely not a leather wallet

The Dynomighty Wallet isn’t like your regular leather wallets. It’s thinner, lighter and easier to handle and carry. Ideally, a bi-fold wallet should have plenty of room for cards, cash and paper receipt – which is something the Mighty Wallet Billfold does offer.

Let’s take a look at all the factors that set the Mighty Wallet apart from its leather counterparts:

Size

Size-wise, the Mighty Wallet is regular. However, at 0.7 inches, it’s thinner than many wallets. You’ll be able to fit it inside your front pocket along with your phone, keys and other items. It’ll also fit into your back pocket. It’s big enough and long enough to hold all kinds of international currencies. Unlike leather wallets, it doesn’t cause a noticeable bulge in your pocket and you should be able to sit on it comfortably enough.

Materials

The wallet is made from 100% High Density Polyethylene or Tyvek paper (it’s used in some mail envelopes). It’s thinner than leather and pretty supple. It doesn’t, however, give as good a grip as leather does. The material is tear-resistant and water-resistant, making it perfect for everyday use. The stitching is also pretty sturdy. According to a Mighty Wallet review from a customer who’s used the wallet for over a year, the material starts to wear at the 6-month mark. It’s good enough to last a couple of years, though, without tears.

Capacity

The wallet, according to the manufacturer specifications, has room in it for 6 cards, 2 business cards and some cash. In reality, the wallet holds much more than that. You could fit in about a dozen cards, some receipts and cash – and the wallet remains flat (with a small bulge). It will still fit into your front pocket or your back pocket. Even when filled to capacity, it’s lighter than normal.

Usability

There are some areas the wallet excels at when it comes to usability. The material is tough, tear-resistant and water-resistant – you can carry it in your pocket without having to worry about it even in adverse weather conditions like rain. Tyvek takes spills and scratches better than most leather types. Opening up the wallet and retrieving your cash is simple. It’s also easy to retrieve cards thanks to the strategically placed slots. However, the material of the wallet is slick and the wallet will slide out of your hands if you don’t hold it properly. There’s also a chance of it sliding out of your pocket if you don’t fit it in properly.

Looks

We’re impressed with the wallet’s atypical but attractive design. You can choose wallets that have superheroes imprinted on them like Superman, Batman, Catwoman and the Justice League. There are also some super villain options like Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy. If you don’t like superheroes, you can choose from multicolored, cheerful patterns and designs. They also have wallets that mimic calendars, postcards, notebooks, animals, among others. Finally, if you want something subtle, they have variations of brown, making it look like a standard wallet. All in all, there’s something there for everyone, no matter your taste or preferences.

The Mighty Wallet vs. Big Skinny

mighty wallet billfold

How does the Mighty Wallet Billfold compare with Big Skinny? Big Skinny, if you don’t know, is a well-known wallet manufacturer that sells cards made up of a very light, durable microfiber. Their wallets are about three times thinner and lighter than ordinary wallets. So how does it do against the Mighty Wallet? It’s much more expensive, for one. It also doesn’t offer you as many quirky design options as Dynomighty. However, the Big Skinny is somewhat more durable, skinner and lighter. It also offers RFID protection (some variants) and has higher storage capacity (some variants).

So which is the better option? If you’re looking to make a statement, then Mighty Wallet should your be your pick because of all the great design choices it offers. The lower durability isn’t necessarily a bad thing – the Mighty Wallet is cheap enough that you can replace it for another, with a different design, every year. On the other hand, if you are willing to fork out extra and want something understated and highly durable, then Big Skinny is the better choice.

Pros                              Cons

  • Tear-resistant
  • Water-resistant
  • High Capacity, will carry all your stuff
  • Tons of unique designs
  • No RFID protection, you'll need sleeves

Should you say goodbye to your leather wallet?

To conclude our Mighty Wallet review, we’ll say it’s a great alternative for your regular leather wallet. It’s much thinner and much lighter. Thanks to its unique design options, you’ll probably get interested inquiries from friends, family and even complete strangers. It is also durable and will last you a year’s worth of heavy use. It makes a great buy at the price point.
