The Secrid range of wallets and card holders are very popular, thanks in no small part for its innovative “Card Slide” feature. The Card Slide feature, like the name suggests, allows your cards to pop out when you pull an ingenious lever at the bottom of the wallet/card holder. The creators of the Secrid brand have been designing products since 1990, and they introduced their Secrid range fairly recently (2009). They’ve used their wealth of experience to create several unique high-quality products, including the Card Protector, Money Band, Card Slide, Mini Wallet, Slim Wallet and the Thin Wallet.
While all their products are noteworthy, we’re going to be focusing on the Secrid Slim Wallet in this article. Our Secrid Wallet review will give you an in-depth look at the Slim Wallet, so you can make an informed purchase decision.
The Secrid Slim Wallet is Compact
Regular wallets can get big and bulge out - especially if you’re in the habit of carrying around purchase receipts you’ve had since the dawn of time. The Secrid Slim Wallet is much more compact than an ordinary wallet. Despite its small size, it will carry a significant amount of cards and bills. You can easily slide it inside your back pocket, in your jacket or even your front pocket.

A Closer Look
Is Secrid Slim worth your time? We’re taking a closer look at the size, material, style, capacity, and the handiness of the wallet in question in our Secrid Slim Wallet review:
The Secrid Wallet is small enough to fit into your front pocket. If you put it in your back pocket, it won’t be a pain to sit on like a regular wallet (because of the lack of a bulge). The wallet is as thin as a modern smartphone. It’s not as tiny as some of the other minimalist wallets in the market, though.
The wallet is made from aluminum and leather. The leather is genuine, pretty durable and has high wax content. That means you won’t have to handle your wallet with too much care. Scratches or stains can be removed by rubbing them with your hands. In case of deep scratches, shoe polish needs to be applied. The aluminum card holder helps the wallet keep its size/shape. It won’t fold even after extended use.
Secrid shines in the looks department. The vintage leather may not look outstanding when you first get it, but the type of leather they’ve used looks better the longer you use it. They offer a wide variety of unique colors or leather types you can choose from, with distinctive eye-catching patterns. The wallet oozes style.
When it comes to capacity, it’s a happy medium between a minimalist wallet and a regular one. You won’t be able to fit all your cards and receipts in it, but it will carry a good number of them. The aluminum card casing will carry 6 – 12 cards without any hassle. You can fit many bills inside the currency slot. You won’t be able to carry a lot of coins in it, though.
Ease of use
The wallet is very easy to use, thanks to the card slide function. You won’t even have to open the wallet to access your cards. When you do open the wallet, it’s easy to get to your money. The leather is easy to grip, so you don’t have to worry about it sliding out of your grasp if you flip it open when you’re in a hurry.
USP: The Card Slide Function
We’ll tell you more about the Card Slide function next in our Secrid Wallet review. The Secrid range won a Red Dot Design award in 2010 thanks to the outstanding feature. Every Secrid Wallet has an inconspicuous lever at the bottom, near the fold. When the wallet is closed and you press this lever inwards towards your palm, stored cards will pop out at the top. They will be arranged in a cascading pattern, so you can quickly sort through them to find the card you’re looking for.
The lever – intentionally – has a hard grip and can be used with a couple of fingers. The hard grip ensures that it doesn’t accidentally get activated while you’re carrying it around in your pocket. The grip is force sensitive – it allows you to control how fast the cards pop out. Quickly pressing it down will cause the cards to snap out, while pressing on it slowly and evenly will make the cards move up slowly.
You can use this feature to swipe a card or use it against a scanner/reader without removing it from the wallet. The card holder is sturdily built and there’s little to no risk of your cards falling out. If something goes wrong with the lever, you can get it repaired (they offer a 2 year warranty). The only drawback of this design is that it’s made for right-handed people. You can, in theory, put the cards backwards and use it with your left, though.
- 2 year warranty against defects
- Small size, comfortable to carry
- Premium looks
- Leather ages well
- Multiple colors
- Card sliding for easy card retrieval
- Holds a decent amount of cash/cards
- RFID protection against electronic threats
- Small amount of magnet protection
- Leather may get damaged, requires care
- Lever may get damaged with time
- Has trouble closing if you put in too many cards
To conclude our Secrid wallet review, we think it’s one of the best wallets available in the market at the moment. The Secrid Wallet is a worthwhile buy for people looking for something tasteful – and if you want to wow your friends and family by snapping out your credit cards with a lever!
